Just a short ferry ride from Seattle awaits the beautiful Bainbridge Island waiting to be explored. The island is known for a “rich in history, culture and natural beauty” and offers adventure and attractions for just about everyone. If you are planning a trip, or even a move to the island, I have put together a list of my top favorite things to do in Bainbridge. Welcome to Island life!
Bainbridge Island Museum of Art
The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art is a new museum known for displaying contemporary visual art and often hosts workshop events and meet and greets with local artists. The museum is just a quick walk from the ferry which makes it a wonderful attraction to stop by once you arrive.
Shop, cook, or even stay at the Heyday Farm and experience a small taste of the country life. The farm kitchen allows guests to learn about local food and to be nourished on a working farmstead nestled within a picturesque and small island community on the Puget Sound”. Their unique atmosphere encourages “the connections between people and food" and creates “a special experience to help you, your family and friends celebrate life's milestones”.
Take a walk through the Bloedel Reserve where you will be greeted by “sweeping vistas, woodland trails, formal gardens, soothing water features and more”. What makes this reserve special, is the way Mr. Bloedel focused on varying textures and shades when creating the reserve as a result of being colorblind.
For those looking to relax and enjoy a little wine tasting, I recommend stopping by this local tasting room and art gallery. Anti-pasta plates are offered on a daily basis and include delectable cheese, charcuterie, and wild smoked salmon, a true staple of the Pacific Northwest.
Calling all foodies! Bainbridge is also known for exquisite cuisine and Chef McGill delivers a one-of-a-kind experience with his locally sourced menu. Named one of “top ten Best New Restaurants by both the Seattle Times and Seattle Magazine”, People’s Best New Chef by Food and Wine Magazine, and even featured in Vogue magazine, you can expect a dazzling experience when you dine at Hitchcock!
